What is Southwest Heating and Cooling’s main focus in 2009?

We are focusing on building a reputation, through customer referrals, as an A/C contractor that provides great products and services that bring value to the home and business owners of Southwest Florida.

How has your company adapted to the economic downturn that has faced the Southwest Florida construction industry? We are a compact business with little to no overhead. With expenses low we can control cash flow much easier and with more efficiency. We also concentrate on utilizing the World Wide Web to help spread the word about Southwest Heating and Cooling.

Has Southwest Heating and Cooling done anything to become a leader in environmentally safe air conditioning products? Yes, not only do we promote top seer A/C units we have concentrated on the new R410a refrigerant systems. Most air-conditioners and heat pumps sold around the world use a refrigerant called R-22. Emissions of R-22 are considered by some experts to be a significant factor in depleting the ozone layer that protects animals and people from the Suns harmful rays. Families now have the choice to ask for an air-conditioner or heat pump that uses a more efficient and environmentally friendlily refrigerant called 410A or R-410A when buying a new system for their home.

Do you have any money saving tips for our current homeowners to save on their energy bill? If you do not have a Heat Recovery Unit, GET ONE. This unit actually takes the heat from the hot refrigerant on return from the air handler to the compressor and heats the water going to the water heater so it doesn’t take as much energy to heat the water. Basically in the summer time your Air Conditioning can do all of the work for your water heater. Tinting your windows can reduce the energy it takes to cool down your house. Also be sure to change your filters on a regular basis.

How often should every homeowner change their air filters? They should be checked every month and if they are dirty make sure you clean them or depending on the type of filter, change them out. I recommend changing them every 60-90 days to keep good airflow through the system. Remember, the better the airflow is in the system the more efficient the system is.
